Q: The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

I got the classic bootcamp error. Running latest version of El Capitan on MBP mid 2010 15" i7 @2.66 ghz

Here's the readout when running diskutil list and cs list

Wherever it says X's ssd, I replaced my name with X, just for anonymity's sake.

/dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

What do? I found a possible solution to this problem on http://awesometoast.com/yosemite-core-storage-and-partition-woes/ but wanted someone-who-knew-what-theyre-doing's opinion on how to remedy this. I've already backed up my system on the external drive using Time Machine but I'd like to avoid a clean reinstall if possible.

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

What is the purpose of this disk?

I fixed my problem. Turns out my disk was somehow fragmented. Thought I had an extra hidden partition somewhere but that was not the case obviously from the diskutil readout. For anyone happening upon this, I fixed it by backing up my system using time machine on an external drive, rebooting into recovery mode (turn off the macbook and turn back on holding cmd+r), formatting my internal drive, then recovering my system using time machine. Cheers!

Please remember to back up OS X, Windows and create a Windows System Restore point.
