When will older Macs be support Win 10 install via Boot Camp

Currently older Apple machines do not support Windows 10 when installed via Boot Camp - Use Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support I need to do a new install of Windows onto my mid 2011 MBA which is not listed as being supported– I would obviously much prefer not to buy and install Windows 8.1 (which is supported Use Windows 8.1 on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support) and then later on have to buy (now the free MS upgrade offer has been withdrawn) and install Windows 10.

Will Apple correct this situation i.e. ensure older machines are supported on Windows 10 and if so when?

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

no 99% sure that they will not

your options are to install windows 10 as a virtual machine using something like oracles free virtual box vm

or do like me which was to install windows 7 in bootcamp and when win8 was released I upgraded win7 from inside win7 to win8 and later on to win8.1 and then to win10 and now to win10 1year edition, there are no official win10 drivers for my system as it is so it's mix of win8 drivers and win7 drivers and some features are absent such as accessing the osx drive and the bootcamp tool
