Q: second monitor not turning on after sleep mode

HI, I have a 2014 iMac and a AOC monitor as a second screen, when my iMac goes into sleep mode and then re-awakes it does not recognise the AOC monitor and goes back to being a single screen on the iMac. I have all the latest downloads and I am running OSX El Capitan

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), Mac OS X (10.7.5), I am using a AOC monitor

If you have a thunderbolt spare it's good news, but I wouldn't go out and buy one, because I'm not 100% Positive that it will work. Try borrowing a friends first if you can, just to make sure it actually works. Good luck to you.
