Print to PDF using Remote Desktop

I have been working on this for a couple of days an no one seems to be able to help me. I want to be able to add a printer that will allow me to convert to pdf for iMac. Before you answer - realize it is more complicated than you think. I am using a remote desktop program that is PC based. The remote desktop recognizes any printers I add, which is good. But as you know, the configuration of a print option for PC vs. MAC is very different. With a MAC, the OS X system automatically gives me the option to save as a pdf and is a separate function of the printing. Whereas, with a PC, I just need to 'print to pdf.' I have tried different APPS which add this to my MAC and it works on the MAC side. Examples include PDFWRITER and PDF PRINTER. These are two softwares I installed on my mac and functioned well and actually added drivers. The problem is, that these two programs do not ask me for a destination - thus when I am using remote desktop - I also do not get a destination question and so it appears to be created - but there is nowhere to find it and I have tried multiple searches to locate it - even *.pdf, and it doesn't work...To make a long story short - I need a pdf printer driver that has a functioning of asking me for the desired destination of my pdf...please help!

I understand that this thread is now quite a bit out of date, however I ran across the same issue and managed to self resolve and thought others might need the answer too.

First of all you need to add a PDF Printer locally. This can be achieved by installing either PDFWriter for Mac or CUPS PDF Driver, either way you are using a CUPS Driver, it's just that PDFWriter packages it in a nicer format.

Once you have this element up and running on your Mac you need to give Remote Desktop access to local printers, once that is done you can print from remote desktop to PDF.

Note that the PDF's will be saved locally on the Mac, if you need to access these files via remote desktop you will also need to give access to that folder to remote desktop (option is within Remote Desktop itself, as it is with giving access to local printers).
