Try System Preferences/Extensions and uncheck everything.

What software have you installed that comes as a Package Installer which asks for your admin password in order to install?

Another way to find out what you have installed is to run this program: http://etrecheck.com

It was written by a community member to show you what you have installed. It has an option to share the output to the clipboard so you can paste it into a reply here.

Uninstall PCMatic. I have no idea how. They should have directions on their website.

Open Users & Groups system preferences, select your user account, and look at the Login Items.

Look for this in the list, select it, and click the - button:

    NSPDFPanelAccessoryViewController.nib

I don't know what that will appear as in the list.

I don't know what else could cause the problem, and disappear if in Safe Mode except maybe the Kodak Printer utilities. The Kodak Bonjour agent may be keeping things "awake," but it doesn't sound like something that would keep the display on.

I have seen reports of Wacom drivers being somewhat incompatible, but, for the posts I've seen, I don't think anyone has reported a similar problem to yours. You might check and see if they have an updated driver, but I'm just fishing for solutions at this point.

Going back to your original post, there isn't a way to "turn off" extensions. You have to uninstall the software that is loading as a kernel extension. Your Etrecheck report doesn't show any loaded kernel extensions. The only thing close was PCMatic.

When is the display not turning off? Some details of the conditions when it occurs may help to identify the cause.

So, it is hanging on shutdown?

Open Console and search All Messages for BOOT_TIME. Not the time of that.

Remove BOOT_TIME from the search and scroll back to the time you noted. Scroll up one page and copy the log entries from that point down to boot time.

Paste those entries into a reply, here.

You may want to paste them into a text editor and obscure any personal information, if there is any.

Did open console.Found no boot time.cleared all on console. As you can see,I know very little about computers nor how to operate them.Just using common sense I seen a notification that I had updates. One was a newer version of el-capitan.that is when this all started.I shut down by holding down the power button. When I got tired of that I used an earlier backup of my computer. What a mess.Finding what I had put in was tedious. But it worked fine.when i was notified a newer upgrade for el-capitan Idid not download its.somehow it was downloaded for me.Now I can go back to an earlier version, but it will happen again .hopefully they will come up with a new upgrade and it will take care of the problem.I do thank you for all your help
