Q: OSX 10.11.6 Preview app prints blank pages.

Preview app will not print any opened pdf. Print preview screen is blank. Using menu at lower left to save pdf to another app sends a blank doc. Reinstalled OSX - no change. New Macbook Pro (Early 2015).

Max kudos to Carolyn for this assistance. I've poked naively around the problem, read beaucoup postings, tried very complex solutions, and finally did an OSX reinstall that didn't help. This is the first time I've gotten info that made a difference. After following her simple instructions, I can now print from Preview as one would expect. A couple of caveats though, possibly related to different versions of OSX.

The instructions Carolyn provided are: [notes added]

Open System Preferences > [Did that]

    Printers & Scanners [Selected]

then select the Print tab [no "tab", just a list of printers on the left]

then right or control click the printer on the left [I selected a local printer]

then click:  Reset printing system [Did that]

I hadn't expected that doing the reset would eliminate ALL of the printers in the list, requiring them to be re-added. Had I known that would happen, I would have copied down some of the connection details for the network printers we use at the university. But that's all administrivia. I can't begin to describe the amount of hassles this has saved me.

Bottom line: Carolyn understood and solved the problem!
