How can I stop yahoo mail news notifications

A few weeks ago, I started receiving the notification "ding" on my iphone. Yet, none of the apps I had set up for notifications had any reason to alert me...no new emails, no new posts, no new twitter notifications, etc. Duh, today I looked at the "pull down" to see the notification was from yahoo and it was a news story...gah. I don't want news story notifications. I'm guessing since I want to continue receiving alert notifications regarding incoming emails, that I'm stuck with them when there's a news story. Any one know if this is true, or if there's a way to not get news story notifications?

This is happening to me again, too, but only on 1 of my iPhones. They have identical settings. So frustrating! I deleted the app and reinstalled it on the one that wasn't responding to turning off the Breaking News. So far, it hasn't pushed any news notifications. It's been about 2 days. Maybe this will work for you, too?

Thanks! I found a more permanent solution that so far I'm really happy with: I uninstalled the Yahoo email app and installed Edison Mail. It is great so far, and it's handling my Gmail account just fine too. No ads either. 🙂

I have Yahoo email and I don't get News Notifications from them. Look under Notifications for settings. This article may help:

This just happened to me, too!

Here's the fix:

Open your yahoo mail app on your iphone. Go to settings, scroll down to notifications. Scroll down to the bottom and toggle off "Breaking News"

I spoke too soon. Even after toggling off "Breaking News" it continues to push news stories to my Notification Center. Time to uninstall the app I suppose. Ugh.
