Apple music songs won't download on Mac

I've loaded many songs from Apple Music into My Music on my iPhone and they play just fine there, but when I try to play them in iTunes on my Mac, they don't play. They are listed on my Mac, but just don't play. If I click on the download icon in the top right corner of the iTunes window, it shows the songs I'm trying to play, but they're not downloading. I use iCloud Music library and iTunes Match and other songs that are in my library but not stored on my Mac will download and play with no problem, but anything from Apple Music shows up but doesn't play. What am I missing?

Exactly the same problem here! I can't download them and if I play them iTunes just skips them until it plays a song I've already downloaded; also, if I try to play a song I haven't added to my music it skips it; if I try to add a song it doesn't work either. However, it works fine on my iPhone, if I add a song via my iPhone and I restart my iTunes the song appears but it just wont download or reproduce it.

Tried restarting my Mac several times without any luck. Anyone with the same issue?

Signed out of my Apple ID account from iTunes (Account -> Sign Out), iTunes froze for a bit but it then responded and all my Apple Music had disappeared (only my original local music was still available), then I signed in again and after a few minutes all my Apple Music appeared again and I was able to download and reproduce the songs 🙂. Hope this solves the issue for other people as well.

Problem seems to have disappeared! Now my Apple Music songs play just fine in iTunes on my Mac. Perhaps related to latest MacOS update (10.11.6) that I installed recently?

Might not work for everybody but i just logged out, quit, relaunched iTunes and logged back in again. Worked great!
