Q: mouse and keyboard paired but can't pair iPad, iPod or phone

They attempt to pair with iMac, I get a confirmation number to compare over devices, sometimes connect briefly then drop out. iPad and Ipod connected to WiFi, Vodafone smartphone mini 7 not connected to internet.

iPad (4th gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 7.0.4, to iMac 10.9.1
