I have tried unsuccessfully to resolve this issue, but, I cannot air play to any device on my network (2 apple tv's) until I connect to my works' VPN.
The networks are not even remotely the same. I cant figure out where to even start looking. Any thoughts?

airplay is sending audio or visuals to an appletv from an ios device or osx device
shared iTunes lib is the appletv accessing the media in iTunes on a computer
both features require the 2 devices to be on the same network it does not work across the Internet
if it works when vpn is enabled then it's because both devices are present on that network rather then on the local wifi network.
I can assure you that my apple tv is not on my corporate network. Not the same subnets, not even close.
I think my VPN client must have some sort of corporate enabled firewall associated with it. Removing the VPN client makes things work normally, simply shutting down the VPN client does not.
Airplay wont work unless Im connected to VPN
