Q: I know I should probably know this but

Is there a way to use your macbook 2009 late (my current one because i love her >~<  oh my macbook is a her by the way) to show whatever is connected to the other end of the thunderbolt port by thunderbolt port I mean the thing that goes from one end to show my screen but that isn't what I want I wanna see the other screen on my mac
