Q: iMessage not working with only one contact

My girlfriend and I have been using iMessage to text each other for a few months now and all of a sudden my messages no longer deliver to her. I am still able to receive messages from her and able too see she read my messages and she is still able to see I read her message. But now none of my messages go through and deliver even when we both have internet connection. I have tried updating my iPhone, turning iMessages in and off and even removing my email from send and receive. I dont know what to do! Any help would be great

    Hi Tomholmez,

So glad you brought up your issue with being unable to send iMessages to the Apple Support Communities. I use iMessage daily and I depend on being able to send and receive them. I will be happy to provide some info on this.

If you can‘t send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, this article goes over some good troubleshooting steps for being unable to send iMessages.

    These sections in particular:

    Try these steps first

    1.  Make sure that your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is updated to the latest version of iOS.
    2.  If you have an iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular), check for a carrier settings update.
    3.  Check your network connection. To send a message as iMessage or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. To send an SMS message, you need to have a cellular network connection. If you have Wi-Fi Calling turned on, you can send SMS messages over Wi-Fi. Contact your carrier for more information.
    4.  Check with your carrier to see if the type of message you’re trying to send, like MMS or SMS, is supported.
    5.  If you’re trying to send group MMS messages on an iPhone, turn on MMS Messaging. If you don't see an option to turn on MMS Messaging or Group Messaging on your iPhone, contact your carrier.
    6.  Make sure that you entered the correct phone number or email address for the recipient.

If you see a red exclamation point

If you try to send a message and you see  with an alert saying Not Delivered, follow these steps:

    1. Tap , then tap Try Again.
    2. If you still can’t send the message, tap , then tap Send as Text Message. Messaging rates might apply. Contact your carrier for more information.

    Have a great day!
