Q: MacBook 2007 freezes following software install
HI all, I have a 2007 MacBook running snow leopard.
OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Office 2011
2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB of RAM
120 GB hard drive
I Recently attempted to install the Djay software from algorithm that came with spin, the usb controller for it.. Not sure what year but has loaded on an older MacBook running snow leopard ..
Once installed which looked fine the software would not load, so I uninstalled, deleted it from applications.. Now the desk top freezes a few minutes into to trying to do anything, it's mainly when trying to open anything from tool bar..
Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you

Did you attempt startup in Safe boot mode? Shift key held down after chime
startup, and if you hold the key in the correct & timely manner, you may need
to supply your admin user password to continue in Safe mode.
You may have removed essential parts of the system while attempting to
remove the troublesome application; so a re-install of the OS X is likely.
Further troubleshooting & use of Find to locate any parts of that Application
that may still exist, could be performed. Also, you could try & see that the
Console log files suggest, according to the exact Time/Date of issue. --
You could see if Disk Utility could repair permissions on the hard drive. This
is different than attempting to repair the hard drive.
You may have to start the computer up from the Snow Leopard system DVD to
see if you can then use Disk Utility from the menu options in the installer, to then
see if you can repair the hard drive using that version of disk utility.
If not, you may have to reinstall from DVD and then update the system to 10.6.8
This should not erase your user account. However any applications that remain
in your user account that could have been part of this problem, may be enabled.
Applications from web sites can be problematic. Some of them may contain odd
bits of bad software; depending on reputation of source, adware, malware or items
not wanted or expected may download with very unexpected results.
There maybe better methods to troubleshoot or address this issue. To know what
is going on may require looking into System Log files, among other things.
Did the application provide an uninstaller? If you had to supply your User password
on installation, it may have required a detailed proper un-installation so as to not
damage other system sections. The applications folder is a place to look, if included.
Good luck!
