Q: Google server not responding on Safari Mac

I have an issue which has been popping up every time i use my iMac

when i use safari on my iMac (2011) it works fine for but then every so often, after 10 or 15 minutes of use, using the search bar at the top just doesn't respond. typing in www.google.com doesn't work either but then i can click on any other websites on my favourites bar and they load up instantly. i search on google on firefox at the same time and there are no issues, i search on my iPhone's safari while connected to the same wifi and there are no issues, meanwhile safari on my mac just appears to be trying to load up my google search as if it can't connect with google servers.

I've got no idea what the issue is, i've tried deselecting a bunch of search options, clearing out my cache, history and any other data i can. i have no idea whats wrong and it is getting incredibly frustrating, not to mention it doesn't delete browser history every week like i tell it to anymore.

has anyone had experience of these issues and know a fix?

is it possible to reinstall safari?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

    Hello mcfly2571,

Thanks for your question.  It sounds like you are having two issues with Safari on your iMac.  Searching with Google, and deleting browser history.  Since these issues are only happening on your iMac, and it appears you have the most recent version of OS X, the first thing I would suggest is to try this in a new user account.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Give this a try and reply back if the issue persists in the new user account.

    Take care

Try going to Safari/Preferences/Extensions and disable all extensions. Quit Safari, reopen, and see if the website will now load. If so, enable extensions one or two at a time until you find which extension is causing the problem.
