Thanks for asking your question about your iPod not being recognized in iTunes here in the Apple Support Communities. I understand how important it is to have my music on my iPod. I will be happy to provide the things to check.
The first thing we want to ensure is that the USB port and cable are working properly. Try connecting the iPod to other USB ports on your computer. If it still does not work, try using another cable. If you are able to plug in a USB mouse, keyboard or other device and it works properly, then we know that USB port is working properly. In that case, please check this this help article to get the iPod recognized by iTunes: If iTunes doesn‘t recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod.
There is a section for basic troubleshooting, and then some advanced troubleshooting section based on if you use a Mac, or a PC. The section titled "If you use a Windows PC" also has an important area titled "Even if you can't find the Apple driver, follow the steps below based on what you see or don't see.". There are different steps to take based on the icon you see, or the fact you do not see any icons.
If you don't see any icon, and you have gone through all the steps for that section and still are not able to get iTunes to see your iPod, the issue may be with third party software conflicts. You will need to check this help article: Resolve issues between iTunes and third-party security software.
Thanks again for seeking help here in the Apple Support Communities. Have a great rest of your day.
