Q: Apple Diagnostics won't start on mid-2010 27" IMac
Attempting to trouble-shoot a mid-2010 27" iMac. Originally thought it was the graphics card. Took it to the Apple Store and they thought it was probably the video card as well. But as the iMac is too old they couldn't send it in for repair. So I purchased a replacement card online and installed it yesterday. Identical issues. Very unlikely that both video cards would have the exact same issue. So now I'm beginning to wonder if it's RAM related.
Trying to fire up Apple Diagnostics by holding down 'D' when starting the machine only delays the regular boot to login. Diagnostics never boots up. Holding down Option-D will go through the download procedure, but once it finishes and you attempt to run the app it tells me that it won't run on that particular machine.
So I'm stuck.
Anyone know where I can download the diagnostics software and do this directly??
Apple Support on Twitter is being less than helpful.
