Q: Can't transfer iPhoto to external hard drive

Everyone, I am trying to move my iPhoto and iTunes library to an external 1TB G-Tech GDrive EHD using Firewire 800.  I had transferred my iTunes library long ago and it didn't help my iMac move any faster.  I am wanting to transfer my iPhoto library to free up more space and then reset my iMac.

I have read most of the posts about how easy it is to do and how to do it but have ran in to one common problem.  All the posts say close iPhoto and go to the Finder screen and locate the pictures folder and then the iPhoto library within the pictures folder.  THAT'S THE PROBLEM.  The only thing that shows up in the folders under favorites are:  All My Files, iCloud Drive, Desktop, Applications and Documents and then under Devices is my EHD.  There is nothing else showing up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, but that's not what you're doing...

The only thing that shows up in the folders under favorites are

There's no mention of favourites in the first quote.

This is very basic navigation of your computer. Fastest way:

In the Finder Click on the Go menu, and when it drops down select Go To Folder

In the window that pops up copy and paste this:

    ~/Pictures

and click on the Go Button

That will bring you to your Pictures Folder.

    Terrence,

Thank you for your help. Is there a reason why the pictures folder doesn't show up?  I may not be navigating this right and any help would be appreciated

    thank you.

The Picture folder should be visible by default in your home folder:

What does you're home folder show?
