No bootable device from Bootable USB?

Hey there. A while back my Kali Linux Bootable USB broke. So I got a new USB. After using the dd command to burn the Kali ISO onto the USB, I tried to start it up and install the OS onto the USB. Unfortunately, I got the classic "No bootable device -- insert disk and hit key" error. I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2012. I was able to use another MBP my family keeps in the house to boot the USB and do the installation. On all the other macs, this USB seems to work fine. But not on my main computer, and it's really starting to make me angry. Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
