If you restarted the computer, that may help the system see the

available amount of recently deleted content as free to overwrite.

Sometimes, a restart with prompt holding of Shift key down, can

help the system do a file check and minor repairs on start up.

    • Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support

At some point after this restart, you should see a login to continue

so the Safe boot will be available. You could repair disk permission

in this mode, or also use it to help troubleshoot. Restart normally

afterward by not holding any keys down, just restart. IF that doesn't

help, then try this short method to rebuild the Spotlight index; it may

take some time to complete the process:

    • Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support - link

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201716

Apr 25, 2016 - Use these steps to manually rebuild the Spotlight index for

a folder or disk. Choose Apple  menu > System Preferences, then click

Spotlight. Click the Privacy tab. Drag the folder or disk that you want to

index again to list of locations that Spotlight is prevented from searching.

Another item, via Terminal command line, to have Spotlight rebuild its Index.

    https://www.codelibrary.me/2015/07/01/rebuild-spotlight-index-on-mac-os-x/

You also could use 'OS X Utilities' to repair disk/repair disk permissions from

the Disk Utility version available in OS X Utilities. -- See boot/startup shortcut:

To use 'OS X Utilities' in OS X Recovery: (command and R keys)

Command (⌘)-R  Start up from • OS X Recovery - Support article.

Or a third-party article about the use of 'OS X Utilities' via Recovery

    • Repairing Mac disk errors in OS X Recovery mode:

    http://www.idownloadblog.com/2016/02/26/how-to-use-disk-utility-in-mac-recovery- mode/

Not sure what else to try; takes longer to look through my bookmarks

and double-check if the pages are working; than to test many ideas.

    Good luck & happy computing!

    Did you empty Trash?

Also, if you used iPhoto that app has its own Trash you have to delete

If your used Photos, that has a recently deleted section. That get automatically cleared after 30 days by you can manually clear it to regain storage now
