Q: Can't Connect to Wireless - Self-Assigned IP

A little background. I have the 2009 Macbook Pro internet problems. Computer is slow, but the internet is ridiculously slow. Nothing will fix it that I've found. I've learned to live with it and turn the wireless off and on and that helps a little.

My newest problem is that I can't connect to my wireless. I am using an Airport Express because my wireless won't make it to my room. Internet was working fine on my Macbook (as good as it can be) and on my iPhone. Today, I got the Self-Assigned IP error on my wireless and also after connecting directly to the modem. The only change I can think of is that I was using my PS3 to stream last night and now I can't connect with my Mac. How can I fix this? Thanks!

OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), null

This works for some people but not all.

    System Preferences> Network> Advanced>TCP> Renew lease.

Hope this helps, best of luck to you.

Then it may possibly be your router/modem although in your case sounds very unlikely. Try and contact your ISP and see if they can manage to help in any way.

Hope this helps, best of luck to you.

If I understand your post correctly, you are using an AirPort Express to extend an existing Wi-Fi network so that it will reach the area where you use your MacBook Pro ... correct?

If so, what exact model is your Express, and what is the make & model of the other wireless router that it is extending? Also, what is the make & model of your Internet modem?

What is the rough distance between the wireless routers? Are they in the same room, different room, or different floor? If different room/floor what is the basic building construction material used in the walls/floors/ceilings (if you know)?
