You should be able to delete them. I cannot tell you with certainty because I do not have a reader but I suspect the photos will land in Camera Roll and anything in CR you can delete on the iPad.

As to your second question, yes. You can make Albums on the iPad. The albums will contain pointers only, the photos will remain in Camera Roll so don't delete them there. The albums will be nicer as you can rearrange the order of photos by dragging them.

Regarding the pointers, the albums are virtual. Effectively they are just lists referencing the photos in the Camera Roll. This is not like the folders you make on a computer, that actually contain files.

Thanks very much. Where do you actually see the lists? Or do you only see the photos in the CR? Can I ask one other question, not related to iPad, but you might know. I am thinking of trading in my PC for a maC. Can I watch DVDs on the Mac as. Do on the PC?  Thanks again. k.

You do not see a list; that's too literal. You see an album populated with thumbnails,of the photos, and you can view each full screen. When you delete a photo from an album, it is just removed from the album, but not deleted from the CR. Since you already have the iPad, you can experiment with the Photos app. Save some pictures from websites if you need some samples to work with.

Someone else will have to answer your DVD question. You might ask in one of the Mac forums.

The catch for dvds,....I looked on the site and I didn't see a single model with a built in disc drive, so you'd need to use an external one and possibly get software to play them. So something that requires more research.

What they mean by pointers is, when you make an album, that album is not copies of your photo (think of all the storage space you'd waste duplicating photos into multiple albums) but rather short cuts linking back to the photos in the camera roll folder.  You will not see file names, not with the built in photo app. Just thumbnails of the photos themselves.

And you can delete imported photos. I import photos into my iPad all the time and I can delete any of them. the only photos you cannot delete on an iPad are ones that you sync onto the ipad using iTunes. Anything that you import or save off the internet can be deleted.
