    Hi

In order to use Apple Pay, your iPhone must have Passcode enabled.

However, you can also set up Touch ID, which you can use most of the time for unlocking your iPhone (there are some occasions when you will still need to enter the passcode, such as after restarting your iPhone).

To set up Touch ID, follow the steps here:

Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad - Apple Support

Once it has been set up, opening your iPhone to the Home screen can be done by simply pressing the Home button and leaving your (registered) finger or thumb resting lightly on the Home button / Touch ID sensor for a moment.

You may find it more convenient to leave iPhone turned on, rather than turning it off and on regularly.

To avoid interruptions at certain times (such as overnight), Do Not Disturb mode can be set manually or on a scheduled basis:

Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I don`t mean turn the phone off completely I mean when the screen goes black after a few seconds.

Touch ID can be used instead the passcode most of the time - including when accessing your iPhone from the Lock screen - except when:

    • You have just restarted your iPhone.
    • Your fingerprint is not recognised five times in a row.
    • Your iPhone has not been unlocked for 48 hours or more.
    • You have just enrolled fingerprints for Touch ID (or deleted them).
    • You are accessing the Touch ID & Passcode section in the Settings menu.
    • If Require Passcode is set to Immediately under Settings > General > Restrictions.
