Q: midi piano pedals problems on logic pro

This sounds to me like MIDI Controller messages being changed into MIDI Note messages. (The numbers of those pedal control messages, 64-127 and 66-127, correspond to those notes, and the down value for a pedal is 127, which for a note would be the highest value for loudness). Unfortunately, this can have a number of causes. A simple thing to try is this:

But don't think this will work in your case, as I suspect the messages are sent by your Yamaha like that, so you'd have to consult its manual and perhaps its forums to find out what settings to change. I assume the Yamaha has a direct USB connection, and not a separate MIDI interface?

That last sentence was important. This could mean that you have one of those cheap Chinese/Taiwanese sub 10 $ interfaces that are known to cause issues with Yamaha instruments (and Roland, too). If that is the case, get a different MIDI interface, of a reputable brand (Yamaha/Steinberg, M-Audio, Roland, Edirol, E-MU, Esi, Tascam etc etc)

If it looks like this, there's your trouble.

It sounds like the mapping of your keyboard is screwed up, or you need certain drivers for your keyboard. Check the manufacturer's site to see if there are drivers or updates for your controller.

Also, if you haven't already, disconnect the keyboard, restart the computer, open Logic, and reconnect the controller.

You can also go in manually to change your mapping if this doesn't work.
