Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. The great thing about this particular issue, is that, it only requires a few steps to get us working again. I love having access to iMessages on my phone and laptop. By the way, excellent choice in computer. The MacBook Air is what I use and is my all-time favorite Apple device! It sounds like you would prefer to have your messages in sync on both devices? Let's make that happen.
