Q: Uploading photo files from Mac to iCloud Photos

Hello - I had photo files on my Digital Camera that I transferred to my PC.  Now that I have a MAC I have transferred those files over to the MAC hard drive.  I would like to now upload those photos to my iCloud photos...  HELP!!

The following has information on iCloud Photo Library.  If it is turned on in Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Photos on your Mac, all photos in the Photos app on your Mac will be synced to iCloud and to all other devices for that Apple ID where you have iCloud Photo Library turned on. iCloud Photo Library - Apple Support

    So I am guessing that I need to get them from the hard drive to the Photos app then...and as long as I follow that sequence they will sync.?.?.?  Thanks so much for your help so far!!  I will go search how to get them from the HD to the Photo App

    I haven't done it myself from an external drive but I suspect that all you need to do is open the Photos app on the Mac and use the File menu > Import.
