There are three links posted. The second one still works. These are links to archived copies of the other two:

It is worth noting that since Apple have removed these documents it is possible that the instructions are no longer applicable.

In my case, Apple stores are telling me that it’s a hardware problem. I’m not convinced but there is no clear explanation of what the error is reporting.

I encountered the error when trying to restore a phone on iTunes after there was a system crash and a low level device firmware update performed at an apple store.

Seems like the software is incorrectly thinking the phone was been tampered with and blocking further operations.

Hello nanners22,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you're receiving a '0xE' error when trying to activate your iPhone with iTunes. You've done a great job trying to fix this so far. I want to make sure you're able to get this phone activated.
Please try the steps below:

  • Plug your device directly into a USB port on your PC, not into an external hub.
  • Try another USB cable.
  • Unplug everything from your USB ports except your keyboard and mouse. Then restart your computer, connect your iOS device, and open iTunes.
  • If you see error 0xE800000a, reset the lockdown folder on your PC.

If you see a similar message when you connect your iOS device to your Mac, learn how to resolve your USB connection issues.

If you see a '0xE' error when you connect your iOS device to a PC
Have a great day!
