Q: El Capitan disk permission messed up

Okay, I did something very stupid by changing the MAC disk partition permission. I removed the permission for everyone. I didn't touch the two others (System and Wheel). The system started to freeze up I had to force shutdown...

Now I can't boot my late 2013 MacBook Pro. The mac starts. The apple displays. the progress bar moves up to about 2/3 and just stops there for ever.

I tried to go into recovery to fix permissions but it is not available.

I haven't used Time Machine since the original purchase so all I have is the original Yosemite. Another mistake obviously...

I'm not worried about the files. I have backup of that. I just want to get El Capitan to work again and not loose apps if possible...

I do have bootcamp installed if that helps at all...

I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I had found that link earlier but it didn't work for me...

When I followed the instruction and pressed Command + S on boot I got a visible processes load page.

When it stopped I entered the commande but it didn't recognize those command lines at all.

I've been searching a while and nothing I found online helped me thus far.

I think I may have to bite the bullet and do a reinstall of OS X...

    Thanks for the reply though!

Well I went ahead and did a reinstall. I didn't erase or reformatted the drive.

To my surprise it has not touched any of my files or apps which is great!

I expected to get everything cleared but in fact it just makes a reinstall of OS X files only.

The reinstall took a little time but it was worth it not to loose any thing!
