How can I get rid of a email virus on my iPad?

I opened a email from a friend on my iPad and now my email is sending out emails everyday. They are most come back to me as a failed notice. I have changed my password on my main internet account that the email is with and also even reset my iPad and still it is happening. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

There are currently no viruses that can affect an iPad unless you jailbreak it.

One of two things have happened to you. The most likely is that some spammer is sending out emails and they're "spoofing" them, making them look as though they came from your email account. There's nothing much you can do about that.

The other possibility is that someone has hacked your email and is using it to send out emails. Change your email account password, implement two-factor authentication if your provider offers it and work with your provider.

it has nothing to do with your iPad, you email account has been compromised and the incident you describe does not require any hacking, it simply requires an email account and a computer, any computer, anywhere in the world.

A web search of "what to do if your email is hacked" will provide you with hours of insightful recommendations but there is nothing installed on your iPad unless it's jailbroken and if that is the case the TOS of this site states we can not discuss it. If not there are no virus for the (non-jailbroken) iPad or OS X at this time.

How do you know you're sending out mail? If you are receiving bounce notification email (a returned email), that does not mean you are the one sending them out. It has nothing to do with virus. Spammers are using your email address as a return address. I receive some bounce mail notification every now and then (these are email that spammers sent to some random addresses and bounce back to me).
