In trying to change my Apple Account email address, I wanted to change it to my
Apple account email addresses. i.e. Iclour or me.com.
I have 4 devices registered under my present Apple ID.
However the Apple System prevents the use of email addresses from their own
own Email Services ///why is this. Looks as if the option if to use one of my gmail accounts

You've stated the case as it is: once you've created an Apple ID using a non-Apple address you can change it to another non-Apple address but you can't change it to your @icloud.com/@me.com address.

Which article simply confirms that you cannot change to an Apple address.
Your me.com and icloud.com email addresses are already Apple ID's.
What you are asking the system to do is merge Apple ID's which is not supported at this time.
A non Apple domain email address used as your Apple ID can be changed.
why am in prevented from using an Apple ID with an iCloud or me.com ending
