Q: Canon PIXMA MP495 won't connect wirelessly

I previously had my Canon PIXMA MP495 connected to my macbook pro, which uses El Capitan.  However, our modem was hit by lighting and we had to get a new one.  I now cannot connect my printer.  I had to delete the printer and now it won't even be detected.  Initially, I was using this printer (when the new modem came) with the USB cord,  but now that won't even detect the printer.  HELP!!
