Can I have multiple cards in Apple Pay?

How do I choose which one to use when I make a purchase?

Hi

Yes - you can add up to eight cards to Apple Pay per device.

When paying just by presenting your iPhone to the contactless reader, your default card will be used automatically.

To choose which card is your default card, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay > select a card under Default Card (under the heading Transaction Defaults).

If you would prefer to use a different card for any given transaction, you can prepare your iPhone in advance:

  • Double-click the Home button (or open Wallet if you do not have that shortcut method enabled) > select your preferred card > place your finger on the Touch ID sensor until you see "Hold Near Reader to Pay"

To enable the double-click shortcut, turn on the setting in Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.

  • You then have 60 seconds to pay using that card by holding the top of your iPhone near the contactless reader.
  • During this time, you do not need to keep your finger on the Touch ID sensor or to place it there again.
