Q: Change iCloud user

The person that owned the phone before me is listed as the user on the iCloud and I can't find a way to change it to my my account.  It shows up in my devices but is not syncing my contacts or letting me set up voicemail.  Is there a way to change the iCloud setting without having to restore everything?

iPhone 4S, iOS 9.3.4

You will need to contact the previous owner and have them give you the password or they remove the phone from their icloud account.

If you know the info - then go to icloud and sign them out and sign yourself in.

    Hi

If the iPhone is still locked (via Activation Lock), ask the previous owner to follow the steps here to remove Activation Lock and their association with your device:

Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support

Do not ask them for their password (it is never appropriate to ask anyone for this). If they are local to you, you may be able to arrange for them to enter their password on your iPhone as part of the required process (which includes erasing the iPhone). Otherwise, they can remove the iPhone from their devices list as described in the support article.

Otherwise, you may be able to sign in with your own Apple ID by following the steps here:

Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
