Q: Xserve RAID - Failed Drive

I recently powered up an Xserve RAID that had data on it from a number of years ago. It connected to my computer without a problem, and I've been dumping data from it onto newer drives for a couple of days now.

But today, the RAID wouldn't connect to my computer. We use software called "FibreJet" to make the connection, and it said, "The FibreJet database has failed to open. Possibly due to a hardware problem. Recheck and try again."

I checked the drives, and one of them had a red light, which I think means a failed drive. Every other light is green, though, both in the front and back of the RAID.

We don't have extra drives, and I don't know how the RAID was configured when it was first set up. FibreJet won't make the connection anymore, and I have no way of knowing what data is at risk - if any since it's a RAID configuration.

What should I do from here?

Ideally, I'd like to open the FibreJet database again, connect the RAID to my computer, and continue transferring as much data as possible - and hopefully all of the data. But I can't even connect the RAID at this point.

I don't know much about this technology and would appreciate any help! Thank you! Here are a few photos:

    Hi  dkmcp

I'am afraid that you have to take a numbered ticket and sit in the queue waiting for an answer but i don't know for how long time you will be waiting for that ?.

Take a look at my pseudo in the XServe & Servers section, tom2lee, tom2lee, tom2lee...

The last man post ? Here i'am ! Yea...

If you are lucky, they don't like me...  Near two weeks waiting me too for an answer. Mine is about RAID Apple card.

If you are not lucky, they are all gone in hollyday...

For your problem, at your place, me, i'd pull out the bay one who flash in red then i'll insert a new same disk as the one who is out of order, then, fingers crossed i'll be waiting...

    Good luck, cordially.
