Q: how can I test a thunderbolt cable to see if its not functioning I have 2 macs with ports

how do I check out a thunderbolt cable using macbook pro and mac mini both late 2014 both 2.6 gig

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Connect the two computers using the Thunderbolt cable. Boot one of the computers into Target Disk Mode and see it the disk drive is shown on the Desktop of the other computer booted normally. If it is then the cable would be OK. Test further by transferring data back and forth.

A ThunderBolt cable Will NOT run an ordinary display, only a genuine ThunderBolt display.

What are you asking it to do, and how is it falling short?

What makes you think it is not working?
Is it a Thunderbolt cable?
A mini displayport cable plugs into a Thunderbolt port but only works for video. A Thunderbolt cable will have a lightening bolt icon on the plug ends

Connect the two via the cable
