Q: Save GB song to iCloud, then delete song from GB; song also deleted in iCloud.

ok so I have been saving older songs to my iCloud drive then removing them from Garageband to keep space on my iPhone.

Going thru my iCloud today I realized that when I delete my song from GarageBand , the song is automatically gone from iCloud - why is this happening and how can I prevent this? This was seriously upsetting to me - iCloud is a place to save what you arent currently using for later right?

I Lost 5-6 full songs, wow.

How do I prevent this from happening in the future.

iCloud is primarily for syncing between devices - to have the same documents and data available on all devices. you can also save the songs on a computer this way.

See this Help page:  Use iCloud with GarageBand

    Delete an uploaded song

When you delete a song you uploaded to iCloud, the song is deleted on all your devices.

    • In the My Songs browser, tap the song you want to delete.
    • Tap the Trash button Delete Song button with trash can icon, then tap Delete Song.

I see - I assumed iCloud was the apple equal to google Drive.

My 6+ is my computer at the moment, so storage is a constant issue when making music. I'll have to start saving songs on google drive.

I'm becoming increasingly less satisfied with GB the more I do, though. I saved a voicemail to Voice Memos (apple iphone software) and cannot integrate that into GB. placing add-on instruments or samples into GB is a hassle - I sure hope logic is better at this because I was indending for that to be my main DAW when I get my Macbook Pro.

I hope they upgrade GB to make more possible, even if they have to charge more.
