Q: any vnc server for Mountain Lion with 2016-002

Hi,

are there any vnc servers for Mac?

I applied 2016-002 in the mistaken belief it was harmless, so the builtin server is broken. (usual symptoms)

Vine server does not work, just disconnects immediately "End of stream".

thanks..

Update: the latest Vine server, after changing firewall settings, takes a long time to show parts of the screen, then hangs. It is like the very first vnc implementations (remember BNC ethernet) with extremely high bandwidth use and then crash when the first packet drops. So Vine seems to be inherently broken.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), null

I would suggest trying alternate VNC clients.

    What is the client system?

Is the client local to the Mac, and thus good bandwidth.

Or is it across the internet with less than ideal bandwidth?

All in All, I've found that the Mac OS X VNC server (Screen Sharing) plays best with other Macs, but 3rd party VNC clients not so much.

I've used the Vine server, especially on lower bandwidth connections when tell the client to use fewer color bits which reduced the amount of bandwidth needed.  In those days I was using Chicken of the VNC (since renamed to just "Chicken").  It had the ability to specify the color bits to send.

When using Vine, the client should support the TightVNC protocols.

A non-VNC client server pair would be TeamViewer.com (free for personal use).
