Q: printer paused on PC

HI

I'm running the latest El Capitain on a wireless network,

I have a windows 10 PC on the same Network which has a shared canon LBP6650 printer connected by USB

If  on the macbook pro I go to system ---- printers----add printer---windows I can see my PC ( named France) and  can seethe LBP6650 printer.

If I select the printer and generic PCL driver the printer is installed OK.

When I go to use it the Printer is shown as paused can anyone suggest a reason

Thanks

Ian

    Hi,

Not sure if this will work but worth a try ..

Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners then select the Print tab then right or control click the printer on the left then click:  Reset printing system

    Then try printing.

    HI

thanks for the thought but No GO.

THought I'd try a new driver rather than the generic pcl driver only to find on the canon site there appears to be no mac driver for this printer

    A subject for investigtion tomorrow

    thanks again

    HI

I found that the canon 6650dn is sold in the US but under  a different model no so I downloaded the mac drive from the canon US site and installed that.

Appears to install ok but as before send something to print and the printer is paused.

Now I'm totally at a loss as to how to proceed.

    Any ideas appreciated

    cheers

The standard rituals for fixing printer issues are here:

Resolve printer issues on your Mac - Apple Support

If these don't work the problem may lie at the PC end, i.e. is it correctly set up to accept connections of the type you are trying to make?

Have you tried connecting the printer directly to your Mac to rule driver issues in/out?
