Ipad suddenly went into activation lock

My ipad mini suddenly went into activation mode. I was on the YouTube app when the screen went black, and then the activation lock appeared requesting for my Apple ID info. But the email suggested was not my Apple ID email, but a different email of mine.

The reason it states of the activation lock is because of Find my IPhone, but I don't own one.

I tried resetting, double pressing the home button but nothing works.

The scree just stays white with the activation lock on.

My ipad was bought from the Apple store.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

We have the same problem with our son's iPad mini. No one was using the device when this happened. When my wife picked up the device, touched the home screen button to wake it up, and the activation lock screen was there. The problem we have is that we bought the device 3 years ago new and the device was activated the very first time and ever since with my wife's Apple ID and password, but the activation lock is asking for a username of 6 characters ending in iCloud.com. This is not any Apple ID or username that we have ever used that we can remember. The device is connected to my wife's iTunes account and we can see all of the purchased apps all the way back to 2013. Apple suggested that it was my wife's iTunes username and password but that is the same as her Apple ID so that does not work. Please, Is there any solution to this or does anyone have a number to contact more than just an entry level employee at Apple because calling them has gotten us no where. Also, we tried to do a full recovery on the device but it runs the software update and gives us an error saying the network timed out? Any help would be appr

This randomly happened to me last night while using my phone. I had to get in wyfy range then enter Apple ID and password. That resolved it. Even though I had data connection available from service provider only wyfy connection would enable me to resolve problem. We have 'spotty' wyfy with limited access.

I have no idea why it happened. I was actively using my phone when that screen appeared. It wouldn't allow me any access to my phone until I figured it out. Once resolved I immediately turned off find my phone and anything to do with location services. Hoping this will prevent a recurrence.

Hope this helps.
