iTunes cutting off songs

I am running iTunes 12.4.3.1 on my Mac. Certain songs on my iPhone cut off, but play fully on the Mac. Anyone having this problem or have a solution? I see some similar threads with older versions, but trying to hold down Option to create a new library and then import my old .xml file does not seem to work, all my old songs come back before I can create a new library. Don't know how to create an empty one as described in the older version posts. Driving me nuts.

Alright, so I'll explain my situation and then tell you how I resolved it.
First, the songs that I had synced were only playing about 3/4 the way through and then it would jump to the next track, but the ID3 (MP3) tags didn't change. Super crazy.

Then, somehow between deleting files from my phone, from iTunes, from the hard drive. Then adding them again I guessed that it had something to do with each file's metadata. Ultimately, this reasoning came about because I had MP3s with their cover art embedded in them, I don't know how that happened, but if you have the album's cover art embedded you should try the following to resolve having your songs cut off.

0. First grab a good sized image of your cover art from the interwebs and save it to your album's folder.

1. Create a Playlist, or add them whichever way you do to your iTunes library.

2. Add songs to iTunes, and then select all (command+a).

3. Control+click on files and choose "Get info" (It will prompt you if you want to edit all the files. Choose yes, and don't ask me again.)

4. In the new popup window choose Artwork and at the bottom Add Artwork and then located the new file you downloaded in step 0. (Even if your MP3s have the embedded cover art metadata you'll see the album's iTunes screen flicker and that's how you'll know the change has taken effect.)

5. Wait. Don't sync yet!

6. Go into your iPhone. Go to Settings --> General --> Storage & iCloud Usage --> (Storage) Manage Storage --> Music --> (Then swipe left on the artist's avatar/name and choose "Delete")

7. Now close out Settings and Music.

8. Go back to your computer, iTunes, and sync.

9. Enjoy!

I hope this works for you. It helped me with two albums so good luck.

Hey Randy Gerdes,

Thanks for checking out the Apple Support Communities! I understand you're having trouble with songs that you have synced to your iPhone not playing through the entire track. I listen to music on my iPhone all the time and that would drive me crazy. I'm happy to offer some direction.

Since the songs are playing normally on your Mac, you shouldn't need to recreate any libraries. In this case I would recommend to delete the music off of your iPhone and then re-sync it to your iPhone. To delete the music directly on your iPhone, you can go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage (under Storage) > Music. Tap Edit, then tap the minus sign to the left of All Songs. You can find the steps to re-sync your music below.

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB

In the case of music purchased from iTunes, you can also re-download those purchases directly to your iPhone.

Download your past purchases

Cheers!

Hi Steven. Well, it seems not to have worked. I deleted the music on my phone and it appears to still be there, although the icon for it is gone under the storage list. iTunes shows just a few songs on the phone, but I can play a lot of them, though some are gone. Then, when I restored them from iTunes via USB, I tested one of the songs that kept stopping and it still does! The Mac version plays all the way through; the iPhone version shuts off about 2/3 through at the same place every time. Very vexing. Still open to ideas from others...

I gave up and went to the Genius bar. They were stumped and suggested I go home (after over an hour) and do an iCloud backup, then restore the phone, then bring back music from iTunes (the idea was I'd have a new player software on the phone). Now different songs cut off but the problem is not solved. Everyone seems mystified.

Someone must know what's causing this.

After working with a Senior Advisor over the phone, I completely wiped the phone and did a new set up. Synced my music and...same problem. I believe I have eliminated all possibilities except a faulty phone. With new OS and music that plays to the end on my MacBook but still not on the phone, I can only deduce it's the phone. I guess I am back to the Genius Bar as my Senior Advisor doesn't respond to e-mails or voice messages I left for him. Had to redownload apps and log in to every one of them again; a lot of work for no result.
