iPhone 5 with iOS 9.3.4, want the last useful system designed for iPhone 5

I have been updating the iOS on my iPhone 5 with all of the newer systems, but have now problems with set-up and battery. I want to go back to the last useful system made for the iPhone5 (perhaps iOS 7.xx?). Can someone help me with this? Need to know, what is the last useful system for the iPhone 5, and how to downgrade the phone, especially where to get the system! Thanks, J. Vydra

Since I upgraded to the first iOS9, the iPhone5 got so hot, I had to turn it off. Then I turned all of the functions, suggested in /maximizing-performance/, but from time to time and further upgrades 9.x.x again the iPhone5 got sometimes hot and had to turn it off, and had to search, what function this new upgrade turned on, turn it off and use the battery saving. (This is really good way to make me sick of Apple upgrades).

I had a new battery installed. Since the iOS upgrade 9.3.4 my Viber also started to play up, it does not show me one of the discussion replies, and it shows that the text is coded. Other discussions are not coded. Can you help? Thanks JV
