Q: Slow response of data retrieval from phone to watch

hhaving trouble with my Apple Watch (watchOS 2.2) retrieving app data from iPhone 6 (iOS 9.3.4). When I click on various watch apps - FaceBook  Messenger , Messages, etc they seem to take forever to retrieve data. I've tried restarting both the watch and iPhone without any improvement.

If I remove the apps from the watch and then reinstall them this fixes the problem for a short time.

Ahy suggestions??

    Hi

For the best performance from your devices, check that both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your iPhone (and keep them permanently enabled).

Also check that you have installed the latest versions of all apps (on your iPhone: App Store > Updates). To also automatically install updates for associated Apple Watch apps, enable Automatic App Install (on your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > General > App Install).

It may help to unpair and re-pair your watch. The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch automatically when unpairing via the app. Choose to Restore from Backup during set up. Most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions (eg Apple Pay cards, passcode):

Looking ahead, note that new features under watchOS 3 - the software update that is due for release this Autumn / Fall - include significantly faster loading of your favourite apps, including apps launching immediately with updated information.

I keep the Bluetooth and wifi enabled all the time. I've not tried unpairing and repairing so I shall give that a go and see if it helps.

I have noticed that if I do a hard restart on the phone it helps for a few days.

Note that Apple advises against force restarting your iPhone unless it has become unresponsive. Perhaps instead try restarting both devices (both off together, restart iPhone first) if the issue recurs:

It may also help to reset the network settings on your iPhone (you will need to re-enter your Wi-Fi credentials afterwards):

    • Go to: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

This is, potentially, expected behaviour. Based on what Apple has said about watchOS 3, you should see a huge improvement once the update is released and installed on your Watch.
