Q: Help with transferring music on mac air

I have very recently bought a mac air. I need help to transfer music from external device (expansion disc) to I tunes on my mac. i am new to this so need it explained step by step please. I will be grateful for any help.

the most basic way is to drag the music files from your expansion disk to the open iTunes window and the files will import to the default location while copies will remain on the external device.

Thank you for trying to help. I have tried that i drag them across and nothing happens. I done it before on my previous laptop but this one has me beaten!!! It is so frustrating
