Q: Power mac g4 does not recognize the DVD/CD drive.  It worked just fine in Leapard

I Just newly installed Tiger on my Power mac G4 and now it does not recognize the DVD/CD drive.  I did all the updates and it does not see the DVD in the DVD Drive.  It worked just fine prior to a new DVD clean install of Tiger. 

PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 2 GB RAM 20GB of HD space

What is your indication that the DVD is not recognized? 

 

Run Disk Utility with disc in optical drive.  Does the disc appear in Disk Utility's sidebar?

I did all the updates and it does not see the DVD in the DVD Drive.

If you put another type of disc in the optical drive, like a music CD, is it recognized?
