Wireless apple mouse won't work

My mouse ran low on battery so i changed the batteries turned it on and the light doesnt appear and won't connect to my mac, i tried multiple batteries and clean it out and it still won't work

MacBook Pro, iOS 6.1.4

I know you have described what you have done so far but the nature and quality of the batteries you are using is important, as too is the way in which you are 'cleaning it out'. If the light doesn't appear it is almost always because you are using lower grade or fake batteries, perhaps bought from a discount store.
