Q: How to record a session on GB for OS X El Capitan and open it on iOS device to work on the road through iCloud

I plugged my guitar on my iMac (OS X El Capitan), through an audio interface, I've recorded a few guitars on GarageBand... uploaded it to iCloud, downloaded it into my iPad (through iCloud), and it says that that file was created on an OS X device and can't be readed on an iOS device... Is the same developer and the same enterprise, also the same app... should be exportable from one device to another, don't you think?

GarageBand 10, iOS 9.3.4

Usually, apps are always "upward" compatible.

That applies to updated version numbers (GarageBand 6 vs. GarageBand 10) and also to different versions of the same app, "GarageBand for iOS" and "GarageBand for macOS". It is just based on the pure fact of feature set. If a light version doesn't have a feature that the bigger version has, then it wouldn't know what to do with that Project.

    Here is a chart

    Hope that helps

according to the chart, the correct path is to create something on the iPad to finish it on the iMac? not in the other direction...

Exactly, just follow the red arrows that show a file created in what app can be opens in what app.

I remember there was a hack to open a GarageBand macOS file in GarageBand iOS, but it involved major "surgery".
