Q: Shall I upgrade to os x to get Photos?

Current OS x 10.9.5 on 2.66 ghz intel core i5,

4 gb memory

I've tried to "buy Book" in Iphoto 9 and it's not available, suggesting I should upgrade to to photos OS X  to order.

How ? I can't find it in the apps store and the only way I can see to get the photos app is to upgrade to OS X El Capitan.

What else, I ask, will I won't be able to do with my obviously apple ancient software?

Help anyone

Mick

Whether you should or not is up to you, we can't make decisions like that for you.

What I can say is that Photos only comes with the OS - either 10.10 or 10.11 - and Photos is the only way you can order books from Apple.

Personally, I would be slow to upgrade past 10.9 with only 4 gigs of memory.

Of course, depending on where you are in the world, there are other vendors.

Only you can decide your preferred course of action.

You can not purchase print products from Apple except using Photos for Mac - and it's themes are often different as are the sizes

To get Photos you must upgrade to El Captain OS X 10.11.6

And PrestoPhoto can print your iPhoto book as is - I have not used them but the reports have been good

    Hi Terence,

Thanks for your reply, very helpful as regards the upgrade past 10.9, I think I'll stick with what I currently work with.

I've had another reply and they have suggested using "PrestoPhoto" so I'm looking into exploring that avenue.

Many thanks for your answer, you have been very helpful.

    Hi LarryHN

I'm going to explore your suggestion to use "PrestoPhoto", looking at their website, it looks fairly straight forward.

    Many thank for your answer
