Q: IPad 2 OS

I have an IPAD 2 and have not updated the OS for a long time.  It is still operating on OS 4.  Can I update the OS if I do not have access to a computer? 

If I can get on a computer will it update to the current OS 9 or is there another version that will install?

Are there huge changes ?

The iPad 2 can be updated all the way to iOS 9

 

You will need to do it from a computer, as there was no option to update on the device on iOS 4.  It was included first with iOS 5.

 

When you do update via iTunes on a computer it will be to iOS 9 directly. no intermediate versions can be installed nor need to be installed.

 

Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

scroll down to the section titled:  Update your device using iTunes
