Q: Can I Cast My Apple Tv

I have a Apple Tv 3rd Gen. I wanted to know if i would be able to cast my HP Laptop to my Apple Tv. I do have a google Chromecast that am able to cast. I wanted to know so i can either get ride of my apple tv or keep it depending if am able to cast. I am able to cast my iphone 6 but the screen stays on and it will drain my battery or if i keep it plug it will continue to get hot since i am unable to take the screen off my phone.

I believe there is 3rd party software that will let you stream content from a PC to an Apple TV, not having a PC I couldn't name any for you.
