In brief, my question is how to deal with duplicate songs in iTunes...

(iTunes 12.4.3.1)

Recently, my Sonos music player decided not to play anything from my digital music collection. The error message tells me there is not enough storage space on the Server service to buffer the data; and, that the solution is to increase the stack size of the Server service on the computer that the music library is stored on. Because I really do not want to attempt to change the Registry, I thought I'd evaluate my itunes library.  I discovered I have 2 libraries (Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl and Music\iTunes\iTunes Library (2).itl.  Each of these is approximately 2.5 MB.  I compared these libraries; they are essentially identical.

I also have a folder called Music\itunes\iTunes Media\Music which is 61.5 GB.  It contains some albums which include both the m4a and mp3 versions of the same songs.  Some albums include only mp3 tracks, but they are listed twice.  I suspect that everything is included twice.

My question is what should I do to eliminate duplication?  Should I simply delete one of the .itl libraries - will that solve the problem?  Or, should I find/delete duplicates through the iTunes interface?  Which file type should be retained - mp3 or m4a?

Thanks for your help.  Sorry if I've provided too much/extraneous information.
