Q: I accidentally messed with my GarageBand file and I can't get it back to a recognizable format.
Hello. I am running on a Macbook Air, with the newest beta software installed.
So basically, what happened is I wanted to change my GarageBand file from a .band file to a .mp3 file using Finder (simply by renaming the file). Unfortunately, however, I forgot to do this on a copy of the original file, and instead changed the format of the original file with no copies.
For some reason, changing .band to .mp3 ruined everything. The file apparently split into seperate "parts" that manifested their own file, and they were named stuff like "Output.temp", etc. I figured that simply changing the format back into a .band via renaming the file would work, but it did not. Even if I DO manage to get my file opened in GarageBand, the program oddly acts as if I am opening up a brand new file and nothing is saved. I worked very hard on this project, and I wouldn't want it to be lost. I'm just hoping there is a simple fix to this I'm not getting.
Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Unfortunately, I also don't have Time Machine set up, so I can't get the file back to its stable condition that way.
